The Lab
About
The project
Quantitative Markets Research Lab is an open-source research project on the mathematical structure of financial markets. It exists to do quantitative finance the way it should be done in public: assumptions stated before results, code published beside conclusions, and model failures documented with the same care as model successes. The interactive instruments on this site are the front of house; the Python research library and notebooks in the repository are the workshop.
The author
The lab is built and maintained by Kyle Wisniewski — a data and AI strategist and a graduate student in applied quantitative finance and global economic affairs at the University of Denver. His working life has been spent building data architecture and research tooling; this project is where that engineering meets the mathematics it was always circling.
He has been an investor since age eleven, which means compounding is not an abstraction to him but a lived experience — including the parts the formulas gloss over: the drawdowns that test conviction, the returns that arrive on no schedule, and the long stretches where discipline is the only input you control. That early education in uncertainty is, more than any curriculum, the origin of this lab's temperament.
